It is easy to fall into a trap of trying to live up to the image of perfection that is in our head. The problem is that the picture keeps changing.
You might dream of becoming a professional speakers once you achieve your Distinguished Toastmaster Award. Or you’ll ask that special person out after you lose that last 20 pounds. Or maybe you will become a ballroom dancing champion. The thing is you’ll achieve the designation, or lose the weight, take thousands of lessons and you’ll still be poised at the starting line, waiting for someone to fire the starter’s pistol.
Today is your lucky day. Bang! It is time to start.
Go on try it. Don’t worry about making mistakes either. You are entitled to make as many as you need, to make to smooth out your moves. The truth is that you can’t learn how to do anything by just watching others who are experts doing the thing you want to do. As I used to tell my swim students if you want to learn how to swim you have to get in the pool.
Take the plunge, say YES to new opportunities, and I guarantee it will boost you that much further as we journey forward, together.
